Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
JustGiving used to make a mandatory 5% charge. That now defaults to 10%, which is optional. So you can change that to zero when you make a donation. I'll assume that donors use the 5% option, and I'll reimburse that to the charity, but I would suggest a 2.5% or zero charge. So every penny you donate or contribute to JustGiving's costs goes to the charity, which is more than ever in need of funds as it is now trying to support two township schools in Cape Town.
I was one of only 30 finishers in my age group, out of a total of over 13,500 finishers. Running a marathon isn't what most people aged over 70 choose to do. I managed 4 hours 27 minutes, coming 13th out of those 30 runners, most of whom are club runners, and have probably done more training than just a few 5 km parkruns. It was tough towards the end - sort of head down with gritted teeth for a few miles.
So I'm delighted with the time, and I'll be even more delighted to receive your donation, however small.
My diary entry for the run is here:
