Thanks for taking a look at my page.
After 31 years avoiding running, I'm getting out there to plod my way round the streets of Bath, all in aid of a good cause.
Those of you who know me will be familiar with my general dislike of running... somehow, I just don't think I was made with the body of a runner. So hopefully the schadenfreude, knowing I'm in pain for a few hours on a Sunday morning while you're tucked up in bed, or tucking into brunch, will encourage you to sponsor me to help those who really need it.
The charity I'm running for is African Initiatives. They work with marginalised people - largely women - in Tanzania to help improve:
- Health and wellbeing
- Education and learning outcomes and
- Livelihoods and resilience
Specifically, I am running the Bath Half to raise money for girls' education - from £2 that funds a solar light bulb to make night time study possible to £391 that puts a girl through secondary school for a year, any donation will help. What's more, African Initiatives' Community-based approach, working directly with their partner organisations in Tanzania, gives comfort that the money really goes toothless who need it.
So please donate what you can, and wish me luck...
