Story
Hi my name is Mary and I have worked in a ophthalmology department helping in clinics and pre assesment as well as admitting and discharging patients coming in for cataract surgery.
I heard about the Mercy ships and what they do and since then have dreamed of going to assist them with the skills I am so lucky to have, and British people or so lucky to receive. So I have volunteered to go to Guinea in Africa for two weeks in my holidays to help on the Mercy ships, with assisting in getting patients ready for cataract and other eye surgery and then care and assistance them after the surgery.
So I have set up this page to help me raise money towards my costs which will include flights, insurance as well as my keep when over there. If I raise more than my cost I will donate to the Mercy Ships as they are a charity and mainly have people from all over the world volunteering to help them
The mercy ships is a international organisation which have hospital ships that travel to some of the poorest Countries in the world to deliver free healthcare. Since 1978 Mercy Ships have visited more than 70 Countries providing services that have directly helped more than 2.5 million people
