This charity previously know as Rape Crisis has been working with women  in Oxford for 40 years this year! 

It provides essential support for women who have been raped and abused. Their gentle consistent support ranges  from explaining prosecution process, attending courts with you, counselling, group work , telephone support lines,  to  making you a cup of tea and letting you just cry. 

In 2016 a man said he would kill me , as I ran he broke my back , then raped me. The effects were devastating . Some of you will know  or are friends and family who helped me when  I most needed it .  The police referred me to OSARCC who have proved to be a significant aid to me getting to a better place .They supporting me  helping me through the court process explaining, reassuring , being an advocate for me when my head was too overwhelmed . I went on to have  weekly counselling with them for over a year .  This has been so valued and I have grown stronger with their help  and support. 

As I grew stronger physically I began walking every day it was a compulsion - a thing I needed to do it helped clear my head gave me the space to just be. This has gradually  shifted to running. To be fair I was never a never a runner before I was always the last chosen for school sports. Now I do run I run defiantly, I run because I’m grateful and amazed that I can . 

I’m going to run for this amazing charity that is 40 years old this year !!! It helped me and so many women and we need them to continue to do so.
