For several years, Zoe and myself have fostered hedgehogs from Hart Wildlife in Alresford, near Winchester.  This involves looking after them in our rabbit hutch over winter while they gain weight, releasing them in our garden in the spring which has several hedgehog houses and then providing food and water for them, which encourages them to return.

Hart Wildlife provide free rescue, treatment and rehabilitation for wildlife from Hampshire and the surrounding counties, treating all animals, but with a particular attention to hedgehogs, whose numbers are, sadly, reducing significantly.

With an annual income of just £200k, any amount you can donate really can make a difference to Hart and local animals.

Hart spend around 75% of their income on direct animal treatment, with 20% on fund raising costs (running their charity shops) and just £4,000 on Governance activities - this really is a charity that has a direct and immediate impact through their work.

I am running the London Marathon on 24 April, having been successful in gaining a ballot place, at the 8th time of asking.  It's not my first marathon, which probably makes me a little crazier as I know what to expect, but if everything goes well on the day, then I have a 50:50 shot at going close to 3:30 (an average of 8 minutes per mile for 26.2 miles). I also want to do this to raise money for a great local charity.
