Story
I'm Matt and I support adults with learning disabilities and autism as a Community Support Worker for Outreach 3 Way in West Sussex. For 1 week in October I am going to be doing a unsupported trek of the West Highlands Way in Scotland walking 96 miles over 7 days, which will include wild camping along the route carrying everything I need with me in my rucksack (whilst I intend to wild camp for most of the route there may be some nights where other accommodation may be used such as commercial campsites and bothies).
I am doing this to raise money for the OutThere project run by Outreach 3 Way in West Sussex
The OutThere project is a community based preventative service that has been running for 8 years providing sports and leisure activities to over 400 people aged 16+ with learning disabilities and autism throughout West Sussex. They provide various activities such as multi sports sessions, football, swimming, gym, music, dance, cookery, cycling and social hubs. To provide these services OutThere relies heavily on volunteering, external funding and fundraising to keep these fantastic services going.
Having taken people I support to these activities I have seen for myself how beneficial and vital this project is for people with learning disabilities and autism in the local area and I hope to raise as much money as I can to help them continue doing so.
Please sponsor me with this challenge with whatever you can give. Every pound and penny raised will help make such a difference to peoples lives.
