We support Birmingham Women's Hospital to give women and babies the best care

Story

Back in April, we lost a wonderful friend and colleague, and the neonatal world lost an exceptional clinician.

Vish was a legend. He was humble, and he was loved by all his family, friends and colleagues. He was the beating heart of the neonatal team. At work he put the babies and their families at the centre of everything he did, and he devoted so much to help families and save the lives of countless babies.

His passion lay in neonatal cardiology, and he dreamed of a state of the art new echo machine to help look after babies with poorly hearts.

We have set up a fund to raise money for the neonatal unit at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. If we can raise enough we would like to buy the scanning machine that he always wanted, and to help this cause Andy Ewer, Rob Negrine, Matt Nash, Peter Van De Velde, Nicola Ruth, Joe Abbot and Ian Wacogne, with a growing group friends to help, are cycling between the neonatal units in the South of the West Midlands Neonatal Network, where Vish was clinical lead. The challenge involves 112 miles of cycling between the neonatal units starting at the County Hospital in Hereford and ending at Birmingham Women's Hospital via Worcestershire Royal Hospital, University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, which we plan to do on the 5th of September 2020.

Please support us by donating to this great cause in honour of a truly great man.
