Five train drivers, John Doyle, Barry West, Luke Venneear, Connor Gosling and Mark Tripp will be driving the Max Appeal Express around the Great North Run.
We are taking on his challenge because Mark’s son Adam has 22q11 Deletion Syndrome and we want to raise awareness of the condition along with the fabulous charity Max Appeal who work tirelessly to improve the lives of families affected by the condition
22q11 is a genetic condition which has over 180 medical conditions associated to it, from congenital heart defects, learning difficulties, Autism, Mental Health to Scoliosis and Speech and Language difficulties, it causes huge challenges to sufferers and their families yet it is often undiagnosed and unrecognised by medical practitioners and within education.
Why the Max Appeal Express - Well that’s simple, until early 2019 the Max Appeal Train worked the Great Northern Railway in and out of London Kings Cross, sadly the train had to be retired from public service and so we wanted to ensure the spirit of the Max Appeal Express lives on and that it continues to help raise awareness of the condition.
Please dig deep and not matter how large or small your donation please be assured that it will all go towards helping Max Appeal make a difference for so many families
