Story
I've never classed myself as a runner. I've always been happy to watch the Great North Run from the living room with tea and toast, or possibly wander down to the seafront to see what all the fuss is about.
But no more! I have officially started running, and after my Great Couch to 5k Victory of 2019 and a lucky break in the ballot, I'll be going head-to-head with Sir Mo this September. I'll give him a head start.
I'm also making this cheeky request for you to consider donating a little something to my chosen charity, Smart Works.
Smart Works is an amazing organisation that helps local women get into employment, become financially independent, and change their lives for the better. They do this by providing them with good quality clothing, plus coaching and support to help them shine at their next job interview.
Having gone to interviews in borrowed clothes before, I'm well acquainted with the catch-22 that is "I need something decent to wear for this, but I can't afford to buy anything unless I get the job", which tends to lead to the inevitable follow up of "maybe I'm not cut out for this anyway". Confidence is a huge barrier that stops lots of women achieving their potential, and to put it bluntly, imposter syndrome is a bitch.
I'm a big believer in the idea that small things can make a big difference. Smart Works offers a simple solution that genuinely changes lives.
We'll be doing more to support Smart Works at Cameo Digital over the next year, so watch this space - in the meantime, any donations you're able to make would be very gratefully accepted.
Thanks! Xx
