Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Rust2Rome rally is being used to fund-raise for The Gordon Highlanders Museum, an important repository of Scotland’s military heritage and a fascinating, educational and emotional experience. Mike
and Bill recently attended a function at the Museum and were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and dedication of the museum staff. It is a fascinating place to visit; the work they undertake with local school children ensures the incredible sacrifices made by brave men and women are preserved in the minds of our new generations. We are very pleased to be working with the charity.

Mike served in the Royal Navy for 27 years, a veteran of the Falklands conflict and both Gulf Wars. He was awarded an MBE for the mine clearance work he and his team undertook and now uses his experience and skills in the HSE as a diving specialist to make diving a safer experience for all.

Bill served in the Royal Navy for 23 years and was decorated in Gulf War one and two. As part of a NATO contingent he helped clear the Adriatic sea of live munitions during the Bosnian war, he also served in the Falkland Islands helping clearance operations after the war. He served in Faslane as a Bomb Disposal Officer for a number of years before retiring where he then joined Divex in Westhill before joining the HSE in 2014
