Story
At the end of May, we are spending a week volunteering in a refugee camp on the Greek island of Leros.
We will be volunteering with a charity called Echo100Plus, which supports refugees by providing basic necessities (such as clothing), as well as vital structure by way of activities and skills-based classes.
Although the media's coverage of the refugee crisis has dwindled in recent times, the crisis shows no signs of ending, with hundreds of new arrivals having arrived in Leros in the last few weeks alone.
The residents of the camp are provided with a tent and basic meals by the Greek military, but are entirely reliant on private donations and humanitarian organisations for everything else. With funding in ever short supply, donations are critical to the charity's ability to perform its work.
Over the next month, we aim to raise as much money as possible in order to help the charity to continue to support the residents of the camp.
All donated funds will be channelled to Echo100Plus through the UK registered charity, the Aegean Solidarity Network Team UK.
Many thanks
