I'm a terrible long-distance runner. My sister got that gene.
I try, because I know it's good for me, but every time I run longer than 5km my thighs turn to jelly and I fear my lungs will dry up like an old kitchen sponge.
But here we are. With me about to run a half marathon.
In November I began working for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in the London office as the organisation’s communications manager of media.
We are the umbrella organisation which looks after 10 million guides and volunteers in 150 countries. We provide empowering informal education to all corners of the globe; from my home of New Zealand, to Africa, South America and even Syria.
Guides learn everything from the importance of community service to violence prevention and hand washing. Guides then take this information and spread positive messages through their communities like ripples through water.
I try to do my best each day to advocate for our girls and share their inspiring stories with the world, so running a few extra miles is the least I can do.
