My name is Melissa, and on the 21st of April (Friday) between the hours of 9am and 7pm I shall be cycling for the Pathway Project, hosted by Burntwood Leisure centre.

There will also be collection buckets set up  within the leisure centre (I will update when they are in place).

However I am hoping to raise £300 before the day for this amazing cause. What is pathway I hear you ask? Pathway is a domestic abuse charity, offering a number of practical and emotional support to both male and female abuse victims. Anyone can fall victim to abuse on many forms, not just physical, mental, psychological and sexual abuse are just some varieties of abuse people often endure in silence. Pathway has been and continues to be a glimmer of hope for many, a listening ear, someone by their side in hard times. This small, dedicated and caring team have undoubtedly saved lives, not only do they facilitate a 24 hour help line, but run two refuges in the area. In a time of budget cuts, charities like this rely on volunteers and fundraising to not only continue, but to grow (I myself volunteer for Pathway).

May I also add that I'm no sculpture of physical fitness and this cycle has/will include several hours of training and general whinging that my legs may indeed fall off. But if my event raises awareness (and money, money is good!) then every ache and pain has been worth it.
