Late in 2018 Ian lost 2 close friends, lovely Claire Parry and the equally lovely Paul Valentine. He decided to put a positive spin on their loss. In true Ian style, he decided to go for something "far out" and "groovy"!
The aim is to compete in a 12 KM mud run, over 90 obstacles.
Ian is partially sighted and clearly of dubious mental capacity since he decided to ask Mike to assist him over and round theses obstacles!
The Nuclear Rush Mud run has destroyed many a fit body!
In Mike’s own words “it has been some time since I made any significant effort towards my fitness level”.
This really will challenge Ian and Mike. However, they are determined to do well for the charity and have promised to put in some serious training.
The Charity Ian and Mike have chosen is close to their hearts.
Ians friends, Paul and Claire both suffered from M.S. before their passing and for Mike, as he lives with his girlfriends family, whose dad has M.S. and whose mum works with the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group!
Therefore, they have chosen to support a M.S charity, that constructively helps people to cope with this debilitating condition.
The Charity is:
Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group -M.S.T.G. charity no; 1111565
The MSTG is a fully self-funding charity receiving no government or council funding so relies solely on donations and fundraising activities.
M.S is a complex condition affecting the neurological system
and affects people in many ways. M.S affects 1 in 600 people in the UK alone.
The condition is typically diagnosed when people are only in their twenties and thirties and can impact people in different ways but almost always affects mobility. Therefore, the MSTG constantly needs to evolve to provide the best therapy that can cater for every individuals needs, both physical and emotional.
What sets the MSTG apart is that it provides an environment where people can take steps to help themselves by remaining active and seeking exercise and therapy in a group that understands the complexities of their condition.
The group's methods provide improvement to many people’s quality of life and to do this requires financial support for specialist equipment, experienced therapists and space to conduct their specialist sessions.
Your kind donations WILL make a big difference to the MSTG and encourage Ian and Mike with their training for their challenge.
