I decided over the Christmas break that I was going to give up alcohol for 100 days in the New Year. The decision was nothing to do with health or a charity just a personal challenge. When I mentioned it to a few people they all said "are you doing it for the Christies thing?". I had no idea what they meant. I looked into it and saw the "Give it Up " campaign pages. What a great idea I thought. As an extra incentive to meet my goal, why not raise money for this fantastic place. Many of us who live "Ooop North" have direct experience through family and friends of the work Christies do. My step mum Sheila lost her fight with myeloma, my great friend Yvonne has recently been given the all clear after a year's battle with breast cancer. Both received exceptional care at Christies.

100 days without booze is nothing compared to what these two fabulous women have gone through. Lets see what we can raise. I am on day 19 as I write this. 81 to go.
