Thank you for visiting this page. While you’re here, I’d like to share some information about RASAC P&K, an organisation for which I volunteer on the Board of Directors.
WHO ARE RASAC P&K?
Since being established in 2007, RASAC P&K have grown from an attic space run by a few dedicated volunteers to their current Centre and a team of 13 members of staff and a number of volunteers. The photos on this page show some of the rooms in the new Centre, including the two beautiful resident fish!
RASAC P&K offer support and prevention services to aid recovery from, and prevent, abuse. They support women and young people age 12-18 who have been raped and/or sexually abused at any time in their lives. RASAC P&K’s Support Services include Crisis Support, Therapeutic Support, Justice Advocacy, Support Groups, Advocacy, Befriending and an Information and Resources Library. Their Prevention Services include School Engagement, Community Engagement, Professional Training, Community Events and RASAC Youth Ambassadors.
ANNUAL REPORT – INCREASES IN DELIVERY
In their 2017-18 Annual Report, RASAC P&K describe exceptional
increases in support service delivery and prevention services. They report that in the last year, there was an increase of 39% in face to face services, 108% in e-mail support, 37% in young people engaging in schools, 25% in the number of Youth Ambassadors, 31% in young people engaging in support and 79% in outreach support sessions provided. Furthermore, in the last 5 years, the number of women and young people supported by RASAC P&K in ongoing support has increased by 123%. The waiting list for core services continues to increase.
Examples of anonymised feedback from survivors about RASAC P&K are also shared in the report - the feedback includes comments about feeling helped, feeling safe, being able to talk, being listened to and describes the positive impact that support has had.
