Hi my name is Michelle Smith and I work and run fitness classes at the University of Leeds. I am arranging a charity event on Sunday 9th Oct@the Edge, University of Leeds to raise money for this fantastic charity. As a Breast Cancer survivor, I am a keen fundraiser for all cancer societies and working at a University I understand how important it is to reach out and educate younger people about this disease. I myself was diagnosed at 44, 6 years before you are allowed a mammogram.

CoppaFeel! are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to instill a new healthy behaviour that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to ensure breast cancer is diagnosed early and correctly by getting the nation to check their boobs/chest regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right for them.

So what are we doing to raise money?

The Women's and Men's LUU Cricket clubs have kindly agreed to be put through their paces for 2 hours straight on a spin bike. Taught by myself & Natalie Ledgard, I can guarantee they will be working HARD, so any donation you can give to support them would be appreciated.

After that, Edge members and Non Members are invited to join us for a Party in Pink Zumbathon for a further 2 hours. Zumba is all about coming together and having fun, but if we can raise a few £££s for the charity at the same time, that would be fantastic!
