Story

I am dedicating this ride to my stepfather John who passed away recently after a long illness but who in earlier years was a keen long distance cyclist. I think he would like that I am doing this event.

As a regular buyer (from Peter outside Pimlico Tube Station), I love The Big Issue magazine's motto of "a hand up not a handout", and know that the opportunity to earn money each week from selling the magazine is a massive first step for each and every vendor.

The Big Issue Foundation is a less well known but crucial part of the overall vendor support package, giving practical help in finding accommodation, overcoming health and addiction issues, and  developing sales, money management and other employability skills needed for a brighter future.

With magazine revenues rightly going to the vendors,  the Foundation's work is almost entirely funded through charitable donations, so please support me in my 1,000 mile mission by following the link and donating as much as you can. Please be assured I am paying for all ride costs myself in order to maximise the value of donations going to the Foundation.

PS You can now make smaller donations to my campaign by SMS, its really easy, just send a text saying BIGI55 £10 (or £5) to 70070

Thank You!
