In June and July 2019, re-enactors from across the UK and beyond will come together as “Monty’s Men” for the ultimate, highly immersive, physically and mentally demanding WW2 living history experience.
We hope that, by putting ourselves through this entirely self-inflicted ordeal for a few days, you will be inspired to help those who had no choice but to live it for real, by donating to the Spirit of Normandy Trust.
The Spirit of Normandy Trust, in conjunction with SSAFA, supports the remaining veterans and their dependants, maintains several memorials and promotes public awareness of the Normandy campaign.
This year, Monty’s Men will respectfully represent the men of the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers during their Normandy campaign of 1944; a fitting tribute to the D-Day 75 commemorations.
Over one hundred men will be organised into three infantry platoons, alongside headquarters, medical and other support elements; this will be one of the largest such events ever planned and undertaken.
For four days, we will live as near as we can to how they did, wear the same itchy, wool uniform, carry the same heavy, bulky loads, eat the same bland, limited rations, dig and sleep in the same uncomfortable trenches, all within an environment of uncertainty and exhaustion.
Thank you for reading. We hope you are inspired to make a donation. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe, they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.
