Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year we lost a true great amongst our friends, in 2014 while in the early stages of her fight, Mo supported me at my Ironman event, cycling a tandem across the New Forest with Trevor and supporting me at various stages on the course.

In recognition & to hopefully create a lasting legacy to Mo, I'm going to cycle Lands End to John O'Groats in her memory.

The challenge is mine, and I will be paying all costs associated with the 2 week trip, but I do hope to raise money for this legacy project discussed between myself & Trevor.

Mo was a great friend, Nikki and I met Trevor & Mo through the boys at school, we enjoyed school events, rugby matches, Sunday roasts and family holidays together...so many memories, happy days, Mo was a wonderful character, had real presence, and such a wicked laugh.

Mo's career was the NHS, her last job was as Matron within Brighton's A&E where I know she was amazing and touched so many lives, both with patients and fellow Doctors & Nurses.

Children and child protection were especially important to Mo, and so in discussion with Trevor and the Rockinghorse Charity we have come up with this fitting tribute for Mo...

Children can wait 3-4 hours within the Royal Alex Children's Hospital at Brighton for non emergency attention, to help entertain them during that wait we hope to create The Mo Barling Children's Cinema which will be a portable cinema system for entertainment but also distraction therapy on the wards, an idea I know Mo would have loved, and a permanent legacy to a wonderful lady.

Thank you for your support.

A brief note from Ryan Heal, Rockinghorse CEO

“We're delighted to see that Andrew is at it again, having raised £4500 in 2014 for Rockinghorse and his two other charities we are delighted that he has chosen to partner with Rockinghorse again this year in his LEJOG cycle ride.

Andrew asked me to discuss ideas with The Royal Alex in order to purchase a specific piece of equipment to provide in memory of his friend Mo, this has now developed into a fully integrated entertainment system that will be portable enough to transfer from ward to ward.

On behalf of Rockinghorse and The Royal Alex we would like to wish Andrew the very best with the small matter of cycling some 1000 miles, and thank you all for your support.”
