100km, yes people, that is how long I am going to trek and all of that within 10 days. Now you all know I don't even like to take stairs, I'm a solid lift girl. So THIS WILL BE TOUGH. Why doing this? That's what I want to tell you about and also because I need your help - as I am just not going to finish this without some support.
And before you worry that you are subsidising my jolly, and boy have I seen those before, please know that I wouldn’t do that. All contributions go towards the work and projects of Conservation International, and I am bankrolling all the fees and costs of this insane endeavour. Every penny raised goes to the projects I will be visiting, which I have personally also donated to.
So, the support I'm asking is not to help me walk. That's on me. I will even deal with creepy crawlies in the tent. Instead - here is what you would be supporting and why I am doing this:
Conservation International is walking us - quite literally - to some of their projects that focus on women empowerment. It’s really about helping women to break out of poverty, and do so in a way that helps to protect the environment. I will see and meet them in person, and every penny you give will go towards the women I will meet.
You know how passionate I am about sustainability and climate change, and I've dedicated my life and soul into it for the last 10 years, but it's been very big picture. I've been acutely aware that some of the solutions can only be achieved on the ground working with local people and especially by empowering women who naturally think about their families and their future. (no offence men! you are important too - obvs).
That's what Conservation International does, and I really respect their work. They do the micro. In the face of scary extinctions and degradation of the natural world, what we need to do boils down to one thing, and that is to protect and conserve what we have. And empower local people to do so.
So guys, please help! Every £/$/€ raised will go towards the projects I visit and the work of Conservation International - it does not matter how much - every penny matters. I will report back on what I find, minus my grossly blistered feet.
Thank you for donating.
