Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This year our challenge is to walk up Scafell Pike in full Firekit including Breathing Apparatus.

Paul Shuttleworth, Lee Wade, Mick Parker, Nigel Hodson, Steve Brown, Paul Brown, Mark Cookson, Jim Davison, Alan Knell, Thomas Murphy, Jordan Bryson, Gerard Burke, Gareth Melvin, Darren Elliot and Scott Cameron all plan to start the walk at 8 am from the Old Dungeon Ghyll car park on Thursday 20th June 2019.

We are raising money for the Firefighters Charity. The Charity helps all serving and retired firefighters including immediate family members in times of need.

We have centres all over the UK that deal with anything from receiving care after injuries on or off duty to mental health issues and there is even a rest and recuperation centre for when life just gets a bit too much.

The Charity is very close to all our hearts and we never know when we may have to take advantage of the facilities.

We are also hoping to use part of the money raised this year to help build a memorial garden at Lancaster Fire Station for a much loved colleague of ours who sadly passed away last year. Ian Dodd, affectionately known as Doddy. He worked at both Morecambe and Lancaster Fire stations where he eventually became a Watch Manager in the Fire safety enforcement department.
