Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are all missing the mountains at the moment, and it's making us appreciate how lucky we are to have access to the outdoors and adventures, as well as the social side of getting out hillwalking.

At the moment lot's of organised charity events are being cancelled, so we are doing this challenge to raise donations for Women's Fund for Scotland. This charity runs a huge variety of projects that focus on supporting women and girls in building confidence, improving health and well-being and moving on from violence. Many women and girls will be even more at risk currently with the lockdown in place across the country, so it's more crucial than ever that community groups and charities are able to provide the support they need.

The 2.6 Challenge has sprung up as a way to continue fundraising for charities during this time, and it's encouraging folk to be creative with their ideas! It can be any activity you like – from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends. We've decided to hike the 26th highest munro in Scotland, by climbing the equivalent height in steps on our staircases, and walking the distance for the hike!

We've set ourselves the deadline to complete this trek by Sunday 3rd May, climbing 1132m of ascent to reach the 'summit' of Geal-Charn and/or the distance of 5k, which is the walk in from Culra Bothy. It's not quite the same as experiencing this expedition in Scotland, but hopefully it will give us the tiniest taste of our usual hill walking adventures!

So, if you'd like to help us stay motivated as we do hundreds of reps up and down our stairs, please donate however you can. Supporting Women's Fund Scotland means they'll be able to continue with their essential work on the ground.

Thank you!
