After one or two sparkling waters at the Moorfield Christmas Party, a small group decided it would be a good idea for the company to take up a New Year’s resolution…it was decided that this would be the "Moorfield Press-Up Challenge" (MPUC).

So, what is it? On the 1st January 2015, 12 people at Moorfield completed 1 press-up. The following day 2 press-ups, the next day 3 and so on. By taking up this challenge each individual committed to follow this pattern, day by day for every day of the whole of 2015 and ending on 365 press-ups on the last day of the year. December is going to be hard work!

If successful, each individual will complete 66,795 press-ups in the year and collectively as a group 801,540 press-ups. In the first month each individual completed 496 press-ups and by the end of Q1 2015 each individual had completed 3,486 which has been a good way to ease ourselves into the competition. By 1st June, each individual will have completed 16,653 press-ups, which is only a quarter of the challenge completed.

During the year each individual taking part in the challenge will burn well over 60,000 calories - this equates to one of the following: 121 bottles of Dom Pérignon, 330 pints of lager, 257 McDonald Big Macs, 231 Mars Bars, 202 Lola cupcakes, 674 bananas or 659 shots of toffee vodka.

The odd day off is permitted to allow for injuries but any missed press-ups must be ‘caught up’ over subsequent days.

On average, most people give up their New Year resolutions by 12th January, so now we are at the end of April, Team MPUC are doing well! A few weeks ago, on Friday 10 April, the MPUC Team reached our first landmark, 100 press-ups in a day…only 265 days and 61,745 press-ups to go!

Moorfield Group is sponsoring the team but if any of us does not complete the challenge we will have to personally donate a £ for every day of shortfall…

This is all for a fantastic cause, Land Aid, so any donations are gratefully received. Please be generous; to keep us all motivated, and more importantly, so we raise as much money as possible.
