Story

Mrs Ball and Mr Gray are running the London Marathon! It is a great honour to be representing the Watford Salvation Army and to raise all important funds for the amazing work they do, but also to say a huge thank you for the support they have given the school so far. Laurance Haines Primary School has been supported by Mark and the team at Watford Salvation Army through some of the most challenging times we have faced as a community.  For our families, they have provided food, shelter, support with wellbeing, managing finances plus so much more. Most importantly, they have always been there to help in anyway they can, at all times.  Put simply, the Watford Salvation Army have vastly improved the lives of the community during some of the most difficult circumstances.  Every mile we run will be a tribute to the extra mile they always go to.  Thank you so much for reading our story and if you can, a donation small or large will go a long way to supporting those who need it.

Captain Mark Scoulding says,

“The Salvation Army has served Watford since 1883
but there is still much for us to do. Thanks to our close partnership with Laurance Haines School, and the wider Inclusive Multi Academy Trust, we have distributed well over 600 emergency food parcels and fed more than 2,400 people since COVID-19 lockdown began in March 2020. We estimate that around 60% have been children under the age of 18.

“Please give as generously as you can – each food parcel costs us at least £25 – and spread the word. We don’t want to just treat the symptoms of child poverty, but tackle its causes. We already offer employment, debt and emotional support, but we have a number of really exiting new projects in the pipeline. Your support will turn those dreams into reality.
