In memory of Finley Wilson

Story

This page was originally set up for Europe’s Toughest Mudder which was due to take place on 13th June 2020 but due to COVID-19, plans changed but that hasn’t stopped me.

Even though Europe’s Toughest Mudder has been postponed until 12th June 2021, this hasn’t stopped me taking on virtual events to continue with my fundraising for CHAS in memory of my little cousin – Finley Wilson.

On 22nd August 2020, I took on the challenge of doing the 12 hours Virtual Europe’s Toughest Mudder. This was by far my biggest challenge to date. I aimed to get a minimum of 30 miles since I have never covered any more than 20 miles, plus I have never done a 12 hour through the night event. Somehow I managed to pull 40 miles out of the bag as well as a number of different challenges that Tough Mudder had set.

For me, when it comes to fundraising I have to do something that is going to be challenging. Europe’s Toughest Mudder was a success (even though I picked up an achilleas injury) but I knew that I still wanted to do something else for Finley. This is why I decided that I was going to push to the extreme to take on the 24 hours Virtual World’s Toughest Mudder!!

WHAT IS VIRTUAL WORLD’S TOUGHEST MUDDER?

The World’s Toughest Mudder consists of running as many 5 mile laps as possible in 24 hours with added challenges that have to be completed after each lap.

ABOUT FINLEY WILSON AND WHY I WANT TO RUN FOR CHAS

Finley was a happy, funny, loving little boy who had a love for tractors.
He was a brilliant big brother to his little brother Jack! He also knew how to get his way with his mummy and daddy with his cuteness. In May 2019, our family was turned upside down when Finley unexpectedly lost his life. How can life be so cruel? Finley was just 2 years old. He should have his whole life ahead of him. Finley spent some time in Robin House so his close family members could say their goodbyes. I cannot thank CHAS enough for everything they done for my family during such a horrific time! Not only were they there to support Dawn and Andy but they were also there for the grandparents, aunties, uncles and little cousins. I decided to become a registered volunteer and fundraiser for
CHAS to thank them for everything they have done for my family as well as keeping Finley’s memory alive. I also want to help as many families as I can that have or are going through what my family have but without fundraising for CHAS, this charity wouldn’t be able to provide that.
