I’ve signed up for the Bristol half and two weeks later I’m running the Bournemouth half marathon to raise awareness of ME after a very special person in my life is currently fighting a severe relapse.

Before her relapse I knew little about ME and often thought it was severe tiredness and general unwell feelings that was a mystery to the world of medicine. Boy, was I mistaken and hugely ignorant! The illness is so much more complex than that and unfortunately the realities of the symptoms people are facing are not taken seriously or thoroughly investigated.

In learning more about ME (not to be mistaken for CFS - chronic fatigue syndrome) I have become more and more driven to do SOMETHING to help fighter of ME feel heard, believed, and loved. My strengths aren’t in medicine or science, so I can’t myself work towards a cure but I can run! And so I’m running on behalf of all those who can’t.

Your sponsorship would mean so much to the hundreds of thousands of people in the U.K. who are missing out on living life to the fullest because of their illness. The reality is that people have died from ME, so it is so important that we raise awareness about the illness and fundraise for research into a cure.
