Story

Hello everyone

As Chair of Trustees of the wonderful Footprints charity, I am acutely aware of the fact that fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and Footprints, along with many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. Footprints had 15 runners taking part in the now cancelled London Marathon, and this would have brought significant funds into the charity.

With the children being vulnerable, the school closed some weeks ago. since then the staff, trustees, ambassadors, families and everyone associated with Footprints, have been working so hard to provide an on-line service for the children, and to carry out fundraising activities. The charity needs funds in order to survive, and to provide the conductive education that our children require, without which Footprints will struggle to survive. We want there to be a school for them at the end of these unprecedented times.

OK, so why am I doing my challenge? Well from a personal point of view I had a pacemaker and a couple of stents fitted a few weeks ago as I had health issues due to a dicky ticker! So whilst I do not intend to run 26 miles, my challenge as part of my recovery programme is to walk for 2.6 hours and to include within that a 2.6 mile run. This will of course feel like a marathon to me!

So what can you do? Well I'm guessing that most of you are currently at home for some time to come. So I am hoping that you can donate to my JustGiving page, with all monies going to Footprints as part of the 2.6 Challenge. Maybe the cost of that coffee on the way to work, or a gallon fuel, or a good old drink at the local that you are not now having. Anything will be so very much appreciated by myself and of course the children and their families that Footprints supports.

Please check the Footprints website to see what we are up to, and what fantastic Conductive Education support it provides.

Thank you so much
