Huw Thatcher passed away at the age of 15 on March 13th 2011, playing football for his team Hepworth United – at Brighouse Town. Huw had a brain haemorrhage as a result of a pre existing condition that no one knew about, or could have known about.
Some people with the same condition as Huw survive after surgery, but sometimes with devastating effects on their lives in the form of disabilities. Therefore Huw's family want to support the Disabilities Trust charity - in particular the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) part of this charity. Your donation via this Just Giving page will be forwarded to the Huw Thatcher Trust account within BIRT. Money is being raised through a wide range of charity events. The Huw Thatcher Trust web site is now available at huwthatchertrust.org to promote these events, show how the money is being spent; and celebrate Huw's life.
As money is raised, Huw's family and friends, decide which projects to support. Whatever the money is spent on, it will improve the lives of people who are disabled as a result of brain injury.
The Huw Thatcher Trust is a fitting legacy to a wonderful and extremely popular young guy. Just like Huw the Trust is lively, energetic, fun, hard working, sympathetic, productive and greatly admired. Thank you for making a donation, you are making a real difference to people's lives and helping us remember our beautiful boy in such a positive way. We know that people donate to other charities too - so all the donations of any size are greatly appreciated.
