Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
The Oasis Charitable Trust was founded in 1985 in Tonbridge, Kent, by Rev Steve Chalke. After five years of fundraising and awareness raising for equal opportunities for all, the first Oasis project – a hostel for homeless young women in Peckham, London – was opened by Steve and Cornelia Chalke in 1990. Since then, Oasis has grown into a global movement, pioneering a whole range of life-changing projects around the world that enable underprivileged people to realise their full potential.
Over the last 35 years, Oasis have been pioneering sustainable, holistic communities across the world - their work covers people of all ages in communities affected by inequality in all areas of life. Some of their previous initiatives have focused on campaigning for food insecurity, racial equality in education, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in education and communities.
This will be my fifth marathon (4th London) - they don't get any easier and the training takes a huge amount of commitment. My PB remains 3hrs 30mins, and I am still determined to beat this record, so what better way to do this while raising money for a great cause and give someone less fortunate a life changing opportunity to fulfil their potential.
I'd like to beat my PB as you might have guessed. How about challeging me - put a * next to your name if you will double your donation should I beat my PB by at least 5 minutes (based on the official course time).
Thanks for your support!
Nic.
