We are Nic's family.
Nic 26 years old with a zest for life, a smile to make you smile even on a gloomy day died suddenly the day after his birthday in 2013. He had no symptoms, no health complaints of any kind. Life was good, he had hopes, plans & a life to be lived, all cut short by a Cardiac episode
All of us who are parents believe without exception that our own children are 'simply the best' no matter what trials & tribulations, highs & lows they bring us, parenthood remains the true meaning of unconditional love.There are no words to adequately describe the impact on us : his mum, dad, sister and brother, that Nic's death has had, or the loss felt throughout the whole family, close friends, Nic's friends and colleagues.
Initially there seemed little point to anything and quite frankly I have little or no idea how we got through each day. Now 15 months on we feel that however small we need to do something positive in Nic's memory. Every week there is news of another apparently healthy young life taken, with no indication that there were underlying heart problems & another family is left grieving.
This is why we are now looking to raise enough money to supply 2 or 3 schools with portable defibrillators in conjunction with The Hand on Heart charity. Our aim is to fundraise in varying ways, to have fun as we do it & to smile as Nic would do. There is no time limit to our goal but there will be huge thanks!
Our lives are changed forever but if we can achieve our aim & potentially stop another family from heartbreak, then Nic's life will not have been in vain. Thank you from us, the very proud family of Nic Jackson.
