Hello, and thank you for clicking through to this page.
This is the second year I'll be supporting Langdon with an international bike ride. Last year about a dozen of us rode to Paris for the inaugural Langdon Ambassadors cycle challenge, and this year we're more than doubling our team size and heading for Brussels on June 12th, arriving on the 14th.
We're aiming to raise over £25,000 between us in order to fund a new training centre at Langdon's Edgware facility.
Langdon supports young people with mild to medium learning difficulties to live independently. These are people who might not look like they have difficulty coping in the world but they do, and the fact that they don't look different means they sometimes struggle even more than people with more severe difficulties because people expect them to cope.
If not for Langdon many of these people would live a dependent life, probably never leaving home, and probably never working. Langdon gives them life skills and a focus on living independently in supported housing, and, something that is really important to me, Langdon gives them work readiness skills and helps them into meaningful employment so that they feel worthwhile and rather than being a burden on others, they become contributors.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for your contribution. Remember, all the costs of the trip are covered already - every penny of your donation goes to the people who need it - not Eurostar, not the ferry company, not the hotel owners and not the patisseries that I will be stopping off at every few kilometres of the journey.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
