Many of you may be aware of my long time ambition to run in the London marathon one day. In fact if you were in my English lessons at the age of 13 you may even remember me announcing this, in amongst the respected career ambitions of my fellow students.
I'm really excited to announce that I will be running the London Marathon 2017 for the International Glaucoma Association!!!
People that know me well, will know that I work with patients, doctors, HCA's, optometrists, Orthoptists, consultants and photographers within the subject of glaucoma. I am a nurse in Cornwall and have travelled to the university of Manchester with a respected colleague (former photographer) during 5 months in 2015 in order to gain a qualification in glaucoma. During that time my enthusiasm for the subject has grown and to my delight I have spent the last year as a glaucoma practitioner. This has involved helping to set up and run (as a nurse), the glaucoma surveillance clinics in Cornwall which are proving very successful. The International Glaucoma Association, and in particular Eryl Williams has supported me as a professional, and the patients within the south west and I want to give something back for them. The International Glaucoma Association (IGA) is a UK based charity that works to prevent sight loss caused by glaucoma, providing information and advice to those affected by the condition. I owe a lot of thanks to this amazing charity.
I hope you can support this charity by sponsoring me to run and donating or/ and taking part in the events as I post them, it would make my day if you can donate to them. I am going to try and raise money through clothes swaps, cake selling and much more and will update you with the money raised. I will feel every mile that I run and will need a lot of encouragement and support. If I know I'm raising for this amazing charity it will hopefully spur me to the end.
