I am raising money for what is now recognised as the UK’s leading educational charity that challenges all forms of prejudice and discrimination. The Anne Frank Trust UK (AFT) exists in order to educate and empower young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to challenge all forms of prejudice and discrimination. They work throughout the UK, predominantly with 10-16 year old’s thereby maximising the opportunity for long term impact. 

They use the story, diary and creative power of Anne Frank’s voice as a gateway to engage young people and these young people then imprint their own modern day and relevant experiences of prejudice or injustice taking their version out into the world - young people are the key to making a permanent difference.

Two of the most important impacts the AFT has on young people are:

1. A greater understanding of prejudice, including more positive attitudes to people that are different from themselves. 

2. Skills and confidence to challenge prejudice - creating an impact on their peers and community. 

My brother has just received an OBE for his work as chair of this amazing charity and as a recognition of how important their work is. As a child I was bullied for how I looked and my religion and I am passionate about the work the AFT carries out.

I have done zero training (other than a bit of pilates...eeek) but I will put myself through some pain as a way to help eradicate unnecessary pain from many lives.
