In October 2020, Bex and Nik Alexander were planning to run the Virgin Money London Marathon for Smile Malawi together. A huge "Thank you" for all the donations received when we launched our original appeal. This October Nik is joining the starters and Bex will be supporting from the roadside. 

Smile Malawi provides a loving home and education for orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi. This charity is particularly important to us, as it was founded and is managed by a close family friend Elspeth Baecke.  We were fortunate to be able to visit the centre in 2018 and see the wonderful environment it is to 44 children.

The situation in Malawi has been very difficult over the past 18 months and resources have been very stretched and fundraising opportunities have been very limited. This is Smile Malawi's main fund raising appeal this Summer / Autumn.  

All the money donated will be going towards education. Education in Malawi is not free, and Elspeth is finding that it is costing a lot of money to educate the children once they pass primary school, as most secondary schools are private.

The funds raised will pay for the school fees of the older children this year and next year. Education is so important, and we feel passionately about raising as much as we can to support this amazing charity. However much you can give will be so appreciated.
