Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will already know, I faced the most devastating news of my life and my world flipped upside down when I was told my dad, not just any dad but my best friend and complete rock, had a grade 4 glioblastoma - the most aggressive from of brain cancer and then came the words 'incurable'..my dad was dying.
I will never forget the feeling of utter numbness as if the world was in slow motion when the doctor told my dad and our family that day, and I don't know how I managed to keep it together after that but for my dad, I did.
I'm proud to this day that I made caring for my dad my sole focus, his lil 'secretary' he used to joke because I literally took on sorting his benefits, hospital appointments, medication, finances you name it I did it and that's what kept me focused and strong, because I knew despite being the youngest I had to take care of all my family.
It's been 3 years now since dad passed away at home after battling this cruel disease for 14 months and it's still as raw when I look back on it all and try and believe it all really did happen. I'm so so proud of the fight in my dad throughout, not once did he moan even when he lost all his hair and was undergoing the most dreadful treatment. That's why I have to keep fighting in my dads spirit and to show my son Henry that's 2 now and would have been dads first grandchild..that his mum will always do Her best and hopefully be something to be proud of.
I want to raise awareness into brain tumour research, information and support because had I not took it upon myself to research this disease on the Internet myself, I would not have known how rapidly things would change and what to expect as it progressed.
The oncology team and Macmillan were amazing but I still would like to raise money for a charity that focuses specifically on brain tumours as its getting scarily frequent that more and more people I know and their families are suffering from this and we need all the support we can get.
If you donate just £1 I would be most grateful, it all helps and means a lot
This is for you dad, my hero xxx
