This summer I am doing away with the alcohol and excess that sums up my life right now to do something amazing in the Ugandan town of Jinja. For four weeks I will be volunteering on the outskirts of Jinja town, teaching children and working with adults on malaria-prevention and small business support. There will also be a fair amount of manual labour involved as I help to paint newly built classrooms - for those that know me manual labour and me rarely mix successfully. But I shall put all that and general bodily hygiene aside for this wholly worthwhile cause.
We shall be working on projects run by Soft Power Education, who aim to help Uganda achieve their Millennium Development Goals for primary Education. Every penny donated goes towards the vital work that the charity do. I shall be covering my own flights and living costs while out in Uganda.
So please, please dig deep, even in these credit-crunched times and support us with whatever you can. Every little helps...
