On Friday 13^th February over 350 of our staff and students will be taking part in the North Liverpool Academy ‘Race for Life’.

Following on from our team’s success in the Sefton Park 5K race in 2014 in which they raised £1,300 for Cancer Research UK we have challenged ourselves to raise a minimum of £10 each with a collective aim of £2,000.

Our race will be 3km around the grounds of the school, and organiser Megan Laywood explains her reasons for putting the event together:

"As a school we participated in a race for life event last year and decided to participate in it again this year. I noticed there was not a lot of ways males could participate in these type of events so I came up with the idea of holding the event at our school, so both could take part. I then spotted that Race for Life offer a package to take part in an event on the school premises. I then spoke to Miss Kennedy about holding the event and she thought it was a brilliant idea - we immediately signed up. I am very impressed and proud by the turn out of students that have signed up to participate in the event. I think it will be a great way for the students to end the half term and great way to encourage more students to participate in physical activity. I hope this event will motivate students and staff to participate in more Race for Life events in the future."

Miss Kennedy adds:

“The interest we have had from students who want to sign up for the event is massive. The students at NLA are proving once again how special they are by all joining together and raising money for an unbelievable cause. Personally I would like to thank Megan Laywood who has brought this event to my attention and who has helped me massively in organising it. I can’t wait for it to happen!”
