1.7 Million israelis live below the poverty line. This is one of the highest poverty rates in the developed world and double the rate in the UK. Well over a third of Israeli children fall into this category.

Shira, a 7 year old from Or Akiva, Israel has a twin brother and a 5 year old sister. Her father died of a heart attack last year. Since then her mother has been struggling to put food on the table which means that sometimes Shira and her siblings go to bed hungry.
