Story
Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) owns 2 helicopters and operates 7 days a week; in autumn 2016 DAAT extended the flying hours until midnight. Responding to approximately 1,400 incidents every year DAAT conveys patients to the specialist treatment centre most appropriate for their needs, giving them the best chance of survival. The service costs £5.5 million every year and DAAT is proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery funding, relying solely on the generous donations of the people, businesses and communities of Devon.
This charity amazes me , I have stood at Plymouth Marjons for a number of years watching my sons play football with the air ambulance landing or taking off perfectly in the back ground. They go out in all weathers risking their own lives to save ours.
It is such a shame that such a life saving tool is so reliant on charity donations. My sister works as a manager for one of the charity shops and I have seen how hard the staff and mainly volunteers work to aid the trusts income.
I have chosen this charity as I’d like to believe that if I, one of my loved ones or anyone I know, that might need this help in the future will always have this option available. This is going to be the biggest challenge I’ve ever set out do, I hope I can do myself and DAAT proud! I know money is tight for everyone but if you could just spare a couple of pounds every little helps! Thank you! 😃
