Story
On 18 July, I will set off from my home in Sudbury on a solo ride with just my old £80 bike and a tent to cycle 4,000 kilometres (approximately 2,500 miles) across Europe and back.
Aside from visiting friends, my main challenge is to visit four of the most notorious Nazi concentration camps: Auschwitz-Birkenau, Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka in remembrance and respect for the millions of innocent souls who lost their lives there.
Unfortunately today, the horrors of war are once again inflicted upon Europe. But unlike 75 years ago, it is possible to get aid and comfort to the victims of the Ukrainian war.
I chose British-Ukrainian Aid, because this charity is a labour of love by all involved. They are all unpaid volunteers meaning more than 98% of your donation will go into directly helping war victims, rather than going directly into large salaries.
Please join me. It will be a trip of poignancy, discovery, fun, and the unexpected...and hopefully, we will meet wonderful people along the way.
