Story
The ‘Old Crown Round’ is a unique and challenging walk which starts and finishes by the Old Crown pub in Hesket Newmarket, near Calbeck in Cumbria. The 26-mile route includes 7200 feet (2200m) of ascent, tackles eight Lakeland fell tops, requires navigating pathless terrain, as well as passing through bogs and a knee-deep river crossing. As a team we will aim to complete this test in under 12 hours – and hopefully make it back to the pub in time for a well-earned drink!
In order to prepare for the Old Crown Round, we will also be taking part in a series of group training walks in the lead up to the challenge date in September. These walks will be led by Mountain and Moor Adventures (Home | Mountain and Moor Adventures) a provider of guided walking in the UK, who will also be supporting the us on the challenge day itself.
The team’s efforts will raise funds to support the Foundation to continue to inspire, empower, and help individuals and communities across Lincolnshire to improve their physical, social, and mental wellbeing.
