Story
The Thames Valley Hospice helped care for my Mum, Rosie, who died of Ovarian Cancer in July 2021. Earlier in her life, Mum worked for the hospice as a Nurse where she spent many years offering palliative care to her patients. Mum lived with cancer for five years and during that time lived a full and happy life, celebrating family weddings and the arrival of three grandchildren. We were truly grateful for all the care she received from all the doctors, surgeons, oncologists and nurses during her treatment.
At the end of her life, it was a great relief to Mum and the whole family to know that she would be cared for at the Thames Valley Hospice. The last few weeks of her life were incredibly peaceful and despite being a dreadful time, it was made significantly easier by the love and care we were all shown by the staff at the hospice. After Mum's death, the hospice also offered us bereavement counselling and were very supportive throughout the difficult time.
I am raising money for Hospice UK to ensure that this level of care and service can be offered to as many families as require it.
