We are all running The Great Manchester 10k on 19th May this year. We will be running for a charity called CUP Found Jo which is a charity who raise money & awareness for CUP Cancer. We have chosen this charity to support Olivias mum, the lovely Jane who was diagnosed with CUP late 2018.

For those that aren’t aware, CUP stands for Cancer Of Unknown Primary, this is a rare cancer that effects 3-5% Of people with cancer. CUP is diagnosed in a patient when the primary cancer is unidentifiable, however secondary cancer is found within the body. As doctors cannot find where the cancer started or where it is spreading from, they are unable to correctly treat patients with CUP.

Jane was diagnosed with CUP Cancer in November 2018. When Jane received her diagnoses, she had never heard of Cancer of Unknown Primary before, neither had her friends or family. Not only do patients with CUP have to deal with having Cancer, they have to deal with the fear of the unknown, as doctors do not know where the cancer started, they are unable to correctly treat it. Therefore we would like to help  in making the unknown, known by spreading awareness of CUP and also raising money. The money raised will go towards further research and clinical trials into finding a more appropriate treatment and creating further ways into finding the primary cancer.

There is also a new instagram page set up to help spread awarenss for CUP, please support the page and follow the journey on making the unknown, known. @cupcancer
