Story

I will be taking part in the 2.6 challenge and writing 26 children’s stories that are 26 sentences each to raise money for orphan sponsorship with Ummah Welfare Trust. I will be sharing the stories on muslimstorybook.com every day for 26 days, from Sunday 10th May. The stories will teach children good morals, such as being grateful and also about Islam, eg, that Allah sees everything.

What is the 2.6 challenge?

On April 26th 2020, the London marathon was set to take place, however due to Covid-19, it could not. At the marathon, charities were expected to raise a total of £6/7 million pound in total. However, UK charities will suffer as the marathon could not take place. Therefore, the 2.6 challenge encourages people to do something for 2.6/26 minutes or 26 times - anything related to the number 2.6, to raise money for a UK charity. Which is why I am writing 26 stories that are 26 sentences each.

The funds we are raising are for as follows:

£2,100 to sponsor 7 orphans for 1 year in the country most needed. (£300 each for 1 orphan)

The cash raised then goes to the parent/guardian to spend on necessary items; such as clothes, food, medication, etc.

This project is Zakat applicable, so you are able to donate your Zakat.

The example of the Believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion for one another is like one body; if one limb complains then the whole body responds to it in restlessness and fever.’ [Sahih Muslim]The balance of wealth and justice remains absent in the world today. For at least three quarters of the world’s population, poverty is a fact of life. Hunger, sickness, homelessness and more cast a heavy shadow over their lives as they struggle to survive with little or no support.Ummah Welfare Trust formed as an NGO in 2001 with the goal of challenging this state of affairs. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity would strive to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.
