Story

It's been quite a year training for, and completing three 100km Ultramarathons and you can read more about it at www.bf4pk.com.

Now its time to join as a family and walk.

We (myself Richard, my wife Jo, and our 23 month old son Elijah) will join with my parents Jim & Sue and take part in the Parkinson's Oxford Walk on the 25th October along with many others.

My father-in-law David was diagonsed with Parkinson's in 2011. My mum Sue was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the middle of last year. Along with the adjustments that such news inevitably causes we have been working hard together to fundraise for Parkinson's UK. Parkinson's UK plays a vital role in supporting not only those with Parkinson's but also their families, as well as funding vital research in the ongoing quest for better treatment, and ultimately a cure.

The funds raised from this walk will go towards research by the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre at the University of Oxford. They are looking at why some brain cells die and others don't. Understanding this is just another small and crucial step in trying to understand Parkinson's.

Hopefully, through this research and many other research projects that are happening globally, we will get to a day soon where those, including my mum and my father-in-law, will be able to say 'I used to have Parkinson's.' Until that day we will continue walking, running and doing what we can to fundraise.

If you can we would be very grateful for any amount you can afford to give.

Love

Richard, Jo, Elijah, Jim & Sue
