Story

Yep - it's me again doing another charity run and looking for generous folk to pledge some money (doesn't have to be much) to support the Tameside based charity "Our Kids Eyes" which provides support, advice, information and lots of activities & events throughout the year for Tameside families who have children with special needs.  I've only recently learnt about this charity but I believe they provide fantastic, invaluable support.  I've only heard good things about them.

I know that in times of austerity there are many competing demands on everyone's limited resources and that is one reason why this time I wanted to run for a local rather than a national charity.

Small organisations find it harder to raise money in difficult times but the needs they support invariably grow.

With regards to the run it is called the L2M Ultra Double.  It is 50 miles from Liverpool to Manchester and then ... 50 miles back to Liverpool.

This 100 mile (161km) race starts near Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool at about 06:00 on Saturday 27th May and each competitor has a maximum of 30 hours in which to complete it.

The route follows the Trans Pennine Trail (mostly) - and the race has a maximum entry field of about 400.  There is every chance I may get what is called a "DNF" (Did Not Finish) as it will be about 40 miles further than I've ever run before ... but I can assure you I will try my hardest to get to the finish line.  I will not be chasing any time, my only desire will be to finish.

Any support you can provide would be massively appreciated - not only by the charity of course but by me too - as it will provide a huge motivational boost.

If you want you can also follow my progress on a blog that Tony, my brotherblogger, photographer, driver and crew member, is writing as he charts my attempt to complete this challenge.  Cut and paste the link below into your web browser to take you to the blog:
