Story
I am not super fit, but want to make a difference.
I’m doing a year of fundraising to support Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice and will be participating in the Huddersfield, Langsett, Leeds, York, Hull, Nottingham, Lincoln, Endcliffe TenTenTen & Sheffield 10K, as well as the Yorkshire Half Marathon and The Great North Run. I'm also going to take part in The Great Swim series - first up is the Windermere Swim - and a Harrogate 40-mile bike ride.
I am a local boy and have previously entered the half marathon but failed... this time is more serious as i want to prove to myself and show my 5-year-old son Max that if you put your mind to anything, you can achieve it. I started running/swimming as a way of getting fitter, so as not to be that fat parent who everyone looks at, and wonder how is he going to live past his child's early years. With the help of a close friend over the last two years we have completed parts of the Great Swim Series and he has also helped me gain confidence in my ability to run.
I am a Transport Planning Manager for DBL Logistics in Sheffield, and they have been very supportive in my fundraising efforts. I am pleased to assist in raising money for one of their locally-based charities.
Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, in Sheffield, offers care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at our hospice in North Anston. Bluebell Wood is a place filled with laughter and love. They give families the chance to relax, take a break and have fun, and we help support the whole family.
I am sure we all know someone who will have needed help at some point, and who had nowhere to turn, so please give generously by text or bank transfer, as even £1 will help me reach my goal and come to the aid of families across South Yorkshire and beyond.
