Story
Ben & I are Trekking to Everest Base Camp in October/November 2017. Our trip not only satisfies our quest for adventure but will pump much needed funds into an economy devastated by the Earthquake on April 25th 2015. On that terrible day many remote towns & villages were laid to ruin (read more at http://tinyurl.com/kbunrwv ). At Everest Base Camp alone 17 climbers (including 10 sherpas) were killed, the camp was completely destroyed in the ensuing avalanche & as a result the climbing season was halted.
Our recent visit, in 2016, revealed that much of the infrastructure damaged in the Quake is yet to be repaired. This damage affects buildings, roads & trekking paths. However, given the limited resources, repairs are evident in many locations both urban and rural.
We have also decided that this is a great opportunity to raise funds for a good & great local cause HOSPISCARE who offer support for the terminally ill & their families.
(For the record "We are paying for our own trek" and all proceeds go direct to Hospiscare)
This adventure is dedicated to Ron Lowman, my dad, who I never had chance to say goodbye to & the grandfather Ben never met.
It's not too late to join us on the trip of a lifetime!
