We fund research into various cancers to extend and save the lives of patients

Story

This year I’ll be cycling a series of iconic climbs in the Pyrenees in aid of The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust (CTRT) which supports our research activity for our melanoma and kidney cancer patients.  CTRT supports the salaries of our research nurses, study coordinators, data managers and research fellow who run our extensive clinical trial and research program. Without contributions to CTRT we would not be able to offer our patients access to the most innovative new drugs or perform research to allow us to better understand the diseases we treat and the drugs that we use.I’ll be spending 3 days doing a number of climbs that have featured in the Tour de France culminating with the feared Tourmalet – the highest paved mountain pass in the French Pyrenees. It has featured 86 times in the Tour de France, more than any other climb. For those of you who are interested each climb is described below. The 3 day total is 34,724 feet of climbing in 237 miles.  Everest is only 29,000 feet!
